So I updated iTunes and maybe didn’t realize it before, it may have been released in an earlier version, anyway, there is a DJ function. This is a special playlist. Well I found a few problems with it as it is not very intuitive. You are suppose to be able to use it with the Remote application for the iPhone or iPod touch. I have gotten the Remote app to crash a few times. Maybe due to my 300+ GB music library. This could be the new age digital jukebox. Easily setup in a business or restaurant and would allow everyone to request a song without getting out of your seat.
However….this restaurant biz will have to wait.
When you connect to an iTunes library with Remote it’s not apparent what is playing and if the server is playing from the DJ list. When in Remote, you have to click on the DJ “playlist”. Then you can Edit and Add songs, not “Request” songs as mentioned in the Help. When you Add a song it adds it to the end of the playlist. On the server it should say that this was added by “iPhone name” or “IP Address” or even alert the serving computer that a song was added. But none of this happens it just adds to the end of the list.
I also tried using this with the Airport Extreme, this crashes after a few seconds and disconnects. This was working before the 8.1 update.
Anyway that’s my beef.
